I’m delighted that the Coalition government has earmarked £200m of funding nationwide to fix potholes. Although this is only a tiny proportion of the cash needed to sort out all the roads that needs repairs, it’s a welcome start.
We’ve already won funding to improve the following roads over the next year:
Dartmouth Avenue, Greaves House Terrace, Greenhead Lane, Highgate Lane, Ings Road, Jessop Avenue, Pontey Mount, Siddon Drive, Tandem Way
And the steps at Vale Close.
This is in addition to the improvement works on the steps leading from Benomley to the village centre.
Although we’ve won our fair share of funding, there’s still a huge amount to do to bring our roads up to standard. Kirklees has now been allocated a further £607,000 from central government and I’ll be pushing the Council to prioritise roads around Almondbury, Lepton, Moldgreen and Lascelles Hall that are in dire need of repair and improvement.Leave a comment
