I’m concerned over plans to save £160m on our health services over the next five years. One plan would include closing the A & E department at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, leaving the nearest A & E at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.
I remember the campaign against moving maternity services from Huddersfield to Halifax. One of the main objections was the traffic: the Elland bypass is still congested and ambulances trying to pick their way through a traffic jam to transport seriously ill people from Almondbury, Lepton and Moldgreen to Halifax for care is not acceptable.
The plans are still at an early stage but I will be watching them closely and making my concerns known.Leave a comment
