An update on the Fernside Park Trim Trail: it’s open for business! Kirklees has installed a one-kilometre activity trail around the edge of the park. It incorporates a running track with seven pieces of equipment such as chin up bars, sit up areas and parallel bars. The idea is to get the whole community active, and it complements the Multi Use Games Area recently opened in another part of the park.
The Olympics encouraged people who haven’t previously been active to take more exercise and enjoy the health and social benefits of getting fit. I’m therefore delighted that residents now have another facility to help them do so. The last piece of equipment will be installed shortly and I’m sure it will be valued by the whole community. We’re lucky to have a green space like Fernside Park in the village and it’s important that we make the most of it.
